La Lauzeta 2016 continued the benchmark set with the 2015 and again won plaudits, with a "Coup de Coeur" in the Guide Hachette 2019 and encouraging reviews. It is a blend of 75% Syrah, 25% Grenache, aged for 16 months in large new oak barrels, the aged further in bottle prior to release. In organic conversion, bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Tasted out of bottle, the inky colored 2016 Saint Chinian La Lauzeta comes from older vines and steeper, hillside parcels of primarily schist soils. Brought up all in barrel and a blend of Grenache and Syrah, this ripe, sexy beauty offers full-bodied aromas and flavors of crème de cassis, melted licorice, crushed rocks, and spice. Despite all the fruit and texture, it has solid underlying structure and loads of depth.

Long maceration and patient aging in barrels, it combines elegance and concentration. Intense and complex, on the nose it blends aromas of violets, spices, garrigue and roasting.
